Humans over Animals

I don’t care about an endangered gorilla being killed. People are being murdered in the streets, children are being abused and molested, the elderly are being mistreated, and the poor and homeless are shunned like they have leprosy! This list can go on and on.

I’m appalled at the number of comments I have seen saying they should’ve let the child die instead of killing the gorilla, and all the comments about the mother’s parenting skills. I wasn’t there, so I won’t judge her parenting skills.

Standing on the outside looking in is a very comfortable place to be to analyze what someone else should’ve been doing.

I know I’ve been in the store and told my granddaughter to stand beside me while I looked at clothes, only for her to move, as children will do. I thank God in that few minutes nothing happened to her.

We are living in perilous and treacherous times. Some would rather an animal lived, and a child died. Some have skewed ethics and values. These are the last days!

I’m grateful a child lived!

ArtToFrames Review

I knew just the photo I wanted to place on canvas. I chose a pic that we took while on vacation, and couldn’t wait for the picture to arrive on canvas. The picture arrived on canvas and I love it! I showed it to my husband and he immediately placed the canvas on our bedroom wall. He loves it too.

Being able to place one of my favorite pictures on canvas at a reasonable price is a great opportunity. The canvas made my picture look more vibrant and lively. Placing a picture on canvas is a unique gift to give to others.

Pet Peeve #1

I’m doing a series of vlogs to share my pet peeves.  I’m posting them in no particular order.  Each one shares equal importance of being on my list of topics that will illicit an emotional response from me that I say is passionate, and some may say is anger.  We can debate the emotion expressed forever, but these are my pet peeves.

Do you have any pet peeves?

More pet peeves to come…

Career Your Passion Book Review

So many people struggle with needing direction for their career, or just direction for their lives in general. Sometimes that direction is needed because that direction was not provided by our parents, or we just don’t have a relationship with our parents to receive the guidance we need.

The book is lengthy, but I enjoyed reading the book. Specifically, I liked how the author used people she had encountered as examples to demonstrate the principles outlined in the book. Using people as examples brought the book to life for me, and helped me better understand how to apply the principles outlined in the book that I needed to use in my life.

The book was filled with useful information, and the Appendix was an excellent resource for those who want to get started right away. In the appendix there are some questions to ask yourself to get you started on moving past being stuck in your current vocation. I look at the book as more of a guide, and to use what is needed for me in the book. You can purchase the book Here

The 6 Divine Principles of Success Book Review

I really didn’t know what to expect from this book and was curious about what would be the six divine principles discussed in the book. I was pleasantly surprised about the principles that were discussed in the book. I like how the author developed each chapter.

Each chapter began with explaining the principle and showing the principle in use in the life of a historical figure and then in the life of a present day business man or woman. Finally, the author demonstrates how the reader can apply the principle to their life.

There are other interesting tidbits provided about the principle to balance out the chapter. Each chapter provides good information about each principle.  The book can be purchased Here

Life Lesson From A Six Year Old

My daughter and I were discussing politics with my granddaughter. My granddaughter wouldn’t listen to us telling her she wasn’t old enough to vote. My daughter kept messing with her until my granddaughter calmly said TCOB.
We immediately asked, “What is TCOB?” She said, “Take Care of Your Own Business.” We laughed! I asked her, “Where did you learn that?” She said, “From my teacher at school. That’s what we say when somebody is in our business.” I said, “When you say TCOB, what does the person do?” She said, “They get out of your business.”

What an awesome life lesson for a six-year-old! She’s already learning to mind her own business, while keeping people out of her business. She’s being taught how to positively communicate what could be considered negative feedback to some.

Taking Care of Your Own Business requires focus and determination. If I’m taking care of my business, I don’t have time to focus on your business.

The next time someone tries to be in your business just tell them

Friends – How Many Of Us Have Them?

I’m convinced that a lot of people don’t know how to be a friend. They don’t understand the actions or inactions of a friend. Essentially, if asked to describe what a friend looks like, they would fail.

Let me tell you what a friend is not. A friend is not someone that has to pledge allegiance only to you. A friend is not someone that has to dislike who you dislike and like who you like. These mean girl terms of friendships should’ve disappeared when we left elementary school. It’s unfortunate that some of us are still mean girls. We are frozen in time and have yet to mature into adulthood.

My BFF and I rarely have a phone conversation. We send random text from time to time. However, when we are fortunate to get together, it’s as if we have never been apart. The conversation continues like we have always been talking. I know that she has my back and I have hers. There’s no denying our bond

If you have friends or friends, you are fortunate. Treasure and cultivate those friendships. Don’t take them for granted. Some of you may wonder do you have any friends. Here are five signs that the people you are hanging with are not your friends.

1. They let you walk around all day with a visible booger in your nose for everyone to see.

2. They don’t tell you your breath stinks, or that you have a foul body odor.

3. They talk about you negatively to others.

4. They know you need a fashion makeover, but they just continue to let you look a hot mess in public.

5. They don’t tell you the truth. They would rather let you think you are right instead of calling you out on your foolishness.

If you have people in your life that fit these “friendship” signs, you need to let those people go. They are harmful to your positive growth. They are not adding any value to your life.

Whodini’s lyrics to the song “Friends” provides a great conclusion to defining a friend.  Here’s just some of the lyrics:

Friends, how many of us have them?

Friends, ones we can depend on

Friends, how many of us have them?

Friends, before we go any further

Lets be friends

Is a word we use everyday

Most the time we use it in the wrong way

Now you can look the word up, again and again

But the dictionary doesn’t know the meaning of friends

And if you ask me, you know, I couldn’t be much help

Because a friend is somebody you judge for yourself

Some are okay, and they treat you real cool

But some mistake kindness for bein’ a fool

We like to be with some, because they’re funny

Others come around when they need some money

Some you grew up with, around the way

And you’re still real close too this very day

Homeboys through the summer, winter, spring and fall

And then there’s some we wish we never knew at all

And this list goes on, again and again

But these are the people that we call friends

Control Your Clutter Book Review

It’s easy to find yourself living with clutter. It can be difficult to rid yourself of clutter, or even control the clutter. This book provides instructions to control clutter in every room in your home, or even strive to be clutter free.

I like how the author defines needs and wants, as well as provide four questions to consider as you remove the clutter from each of your rooms. I even like the title control your clutter because the author doesn’t tell you to eliminate all clutter, but control it.

However, if you follow the steps provided you will rid your home of clutter over a period of time. This is a common sense approach to control clutter and one anyone can follow.  You can purchase the book Here

Stories of Love and Weight *Book Review*

image

This is a great book in assisting in understanding the struggles with weight.  It was refreshing to read that others struggle with weight too.  I saw myself in some of the stories and was glad the author decided to develop this book.  This book lays the foundation for having an open discussion about weight.  So many times some people believe some are overweight because they eat too much.  However, there are other physical and mental struggles that lead to obesity.
